Live Blog: Amazon Launches Its 3D Smartphone

SEATTLE — It's been rumored for years that Amazon has been working on a smartphone of its own, but today is the day we'll finally see it rear its head. Its probable 3D, six-camera'd head, that is.

The company is expected to launch its first-ever smartphone at a mystery event held at Fremont Studios in Seattle on Wednesday, and we'll be on the ground giving you all the details as the news rolls in. The event kicks off at 1:30 p.m. ET, but we'll be chatting live starting at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Leaked pictures of the alleged device show the glasses-free 3D smartphone will come with six cameras — four of which are front-facing ones to help with the software's 3D effects.
