Nest Brings Back Smoke Detectors at Lower Price After Recall

Nest is putting its smoke and carbon monoxide detectors back on the market at a lower price, just more than two months after sales of the product were halted due to a flaw.

Nest announced late Monday that the Protect, its smart smoke detector, is "once again available" to customers at $99, down from its previous price of $129. The announcement came in the second to last sentence of a long blog post and made no mention to the glitch that forced it off the market originally.

The smart home device maker announced in March that it had discovered that Nest Wave, a feature that lets users turn off the smoke detector just by waving their hands, could also be triggered accidentally.
