'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Will Be the Year's First $100 Million Movie

X-Men: Days of Future Past just may pull off this weekend what neither Captain America, Spider-Man nor Godzilla could: Become the first film of summer to ring the $100 million bell.

But before we declare mutants superior to radioactive spiders and super soldiers, bear in mind: X-Men has a four-day Memorial Day weekend going for it, whereas Cap and the King of Monsters counted their dollars within traditional, three-day frames.

Take nothing away from the seventh X-Men film – it pulled in more than $8 million on Thursday, its opening night, a fantastic kick-off that some are predicting could push it as high as $120 million over the four-day stretch.
