Has the Selfie Reached Its Peak?

In the past few months alone, the self-portrait (a.k.a. selfie) movement has spawned a TV show, a music video (which spawned spinoffs from politicians) and an Oscars meme.

Let's not forget #FuneralSelfie, #PresidentialSelfie and #ButtSelfie. So it's safe to say that we're reaching a saturation point. They hit a "dazzling apex" and suffered a "tragic demise," according to the folks in charge of the Webby Awards, an Oscars for the Internet of sorts, which was hosted by comedian and actor Patton Oswalt on Monday in New York City.
