'The Shield' Actor Charged With Murdering His Wife

Actor Michael Jace, who starred in "The Shield," has been charged with the murder of his wife, April, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.

Authorities found April dead in the couple's LA home on Monday shortly after Jace reportedly called police around 8:30 p.m. and said he had shot his wife. Law enforcement detained Jace, who played a police officer on "The Shield," and charged him with murder early Tuesday morning. According to TMZ, Jace's children witnessed the shooting.

Jace, 48, has often portrayed a member of law enforcement throughout his 22-year acting career. He played officer Julien Lowe for 89 episodes of "The Shield," a series about the Los Angles Police Department that aired from 2002 to 2008. He was also featured in "Southland," another drama about the LAPD. Jace appeared as a member of law enforcement or the military in episodes of "NYPD Blue," "Burn Notice" and "CSI," according to CNN.
