In today’s online marketplace, community managers often have numerous jobs but ill-defined roles. This makes measuring the effectiveness of your community manager a task in itself.

With this in mind, I asked 12 successful entrepreneurs from Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) their suggestions for measuring the job performance of community managers in a startup environment. Their advice is below:

1. Measure Returning Visitors

Part of the community manager's job should be to improve customer experience and engagement. These both lead to more returning visitors (the ultimate goal of a community). So simply measuring returning visitors and the trends of this metric will give good insight into how well she is doing her job and the impact. You should also be able to measure the number of comments and responses that each piece of content is getting.
