Swarm, Foursquare's Other Half, Takes Over the Check-In

When Foursquare first announced it was splitting its app into two, many were puzzled by the move. Even founder Dennis Crowley admitted he thought it was crazy at first.

With Swarm, Foursquare's other half, the company is making a very decided move to separate the social and discovery aspects of the original Foursquare.

Swarm is just one part of Foursquare's future plans but the original app, which first launched in 2009, won't be going anywhere.

"In the near future, the Foursquare app is also going to go through a metamorphosis," Foursqure said in a blog post announcing Swarm.
