Wood Smart Car Kits Are the Opposite of Instant

If you’re into DIY, then the only thing better than a remote-controlled vehicle is building one yourself. At least that’s what the developers of SmartWood are hoping. They just launched a $50,000 Kickstarter campaign for their line of plywood-based Bluetooth controlled robot vehicles that, like all good DIY, aims to be the opposite of instant

"Everything is instant these days,” the pitch video voice-over intones. “Instant food, instant messaging, instant fame. Don’t think, don’t imagine, just open, use and throw away."

SmartWood's oxymoronic name comes from the primary car construction material: wood.
