Disgraced Former Director of 92nd Street Y Commits Suicide, Report Says

Sol Adler, the disgraced former executive director of 92nd Street Y, a historically Jewish community center in New York, was found dead of an apparent suicide at his home in Brooklyn Friday, according to a report.

Adler, 60, hanged himself, and was discovered by his wife, the New York Post reported. He helmed 92Y for two decades, reportedly doubling its number of programs and raising $80 million during his tenure. However, Adler was fired in 2012 after an anonymous letter exposed his affair with Catherine Marto, his personal assistant

The news comes days after Henry Timms, the center's former deputy executive director for innovation, strategy and content, was named Adler's successor. He had been serving as interim director since Adler was fired, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Read more...
