Appeals Court Grants Stay of Execution for Texas Man

Update May 13, 4:45 p.m. ET: Robert James Campbell will not be executed in Texas Tuesday night. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has granted a stay of execution in Campbell's case, stating, "Campbell and his attorneys have not had a fair opportunity to develop Campbell’s claim of ineligibility for the death penalty. In light of the evidence we have been shown, we believe that Campbell must be given such an opportunity. The motion for a stay of execution pending resolution of Campbell’s Atkins claim will be granted."
