Yahoo Is Trying Original Series, Starts With Paul Feig Space Comedy

Yahoo just became the latest digital platform to give original series a whirl on Monday, announcing a pair of half-hour comedy shows that will premiere next year on its Yahoo Screen.

Though Yahoo has made dubious attempts at short-form entertainment in the past, the shows represent its maiden voyage into TV-style scripted series, the likes of which have transformed Netflix into an entertainment powerhouse. Yahoo revealed the two half-hour shows, both eight episodes long, Monday during its annual "NewFronts" presentation to advertisers and media.
