HBO Go Users Must Wait Extra Day for John Oliver's 'Last Week Tonight'

The marketing behind John Oliver's new HBO show Last Week Tonight has been a self-awareness blitz: Yes, it's a weekly news anthology in a time of up-to-the-minute updates and commentary, and yes, they're making fun of themselves for that. Even the title is a tongue-in-cheek apology for the show's last-to-report-it setup.

HBO Go devotees will have to be even more patient, however — what they're getting is something more like Last Week Tonight, But on the Following Day. And that's not going to change anytime soon.

Last Week Tonight debuted Sunday night at 11 p.m. ET, but the 30-minute show wasn't available on HBO's proprietary streaming service until sometime Monday morning. The reason? It takes too long to upload. Read more...
