After Deaths, Ukraine Resumes Anti-Terrorism Operation

KIEV, Ukraine — Ukraine’s interim President Oleksandry Turchynov announced on Tuesday the reinstatement of an anti-terrorism operation in the country's embattled eastern regions. The announcement came after two bodies, one of which is believed to be a member of his political party, turned up in a river with signs of torture

One Russian report said his stomach was slashed open.

“I demand the restoration of power structures and conducting of effective counterterrorism measures aimed at protecting Ukrainian citizens who live in Eastern Ukraine against terrorism,” Turchynov said in a statement posted to the presidential website, hours after U.S. Vice President Joe Biden ended his two-day visit to Kiev.
