No, Powdered Alcohol Is Not a Thing — Yet

Readers of the Interwebs may have been either elated or horrified to see over the weekend reports that the U.S. government had just "approved" a substance called Palcohol, or powdered alcohol, for sale in liquor stores in little packets to be mixed with water at will. (What could possibly go wrong?)

But it turns out that a Palcohol label, not a patent, was approved earlier this month by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau of the U.S. Treasure Department. And even that turned out to be a mistake: A spokesperson for the Bureau told the Newark Star Ledger that the label approvals "have been surrendered." Read more...
