Everest Sherpas Pack Up for the Season After Deadly Avalanche

Some Nepalese Sherpas who take paying customers up the world's tallest mountain are quitting for the season following an avalanche on Mount Everest that killed 16 people, including 13 of their own.

After the tragedy, the Sherpa community asked the Nepalese government to provide higher salaries, a welfare fund and updated insurance policies. They threatened to boycott if their demands weren't met by April 28. However, the strike is about more than money.
