South Korean Ferry Death Toll Rises to 64, Disaster Zones Declared

Five days into the South Korean ferry disaster and the death toll continues to rise –– 64 bodies have now been found, according to the South Korean Ministry of Security and Public Administration.

The Sewol ferry, carrying 476 passengers, still has 238 people missing and the death toll is expected to rise in the coming days.

This news follows the release of a new radio transcript earlier today, which revealed that the ferry crew did not know how to properly handle the evacuation

Divers finally entered the ferry on Sunday and found 32 bodies, according to the BBC. The scene at the small port in Jindo, South Korea — 12 miles from the wreckage of the ferry — is solemn as relatives of the ferry passengers arrive to identify the bodies. Read more...
