Let the record show: Bill Clinton's White House was one of the first to warn us that not everything we read on the Internet is true — way back in 1995.

Approximately 7,500 pages of records from Bill Clinton’s time in the White House were released today, including one that caught our fancy: “The Communication Stream of Conspiracy Commerce.”

The 1995 report states that the Internet was a mode of communication "employed by the right wing" used to "convey their fringe stories into legitimate subjects of coverage by the mainstream media." Those "fringe stories," at time, included reports about a major real estate controversy known as Whitewater, allegations of President Clinton's extramarital affair with Gennifer Flowers, and rumors about Paula Jones, a former Arkansas state employee who would later sue President Clinton for sexual harassment.
