NBC Is Pulling the Plug on Daily Candy, Television Without Pity

The plug is about to be pulled on Daily Candy and Television Without Pity, two websites that helped pave the way for Internet-native content, according to a representative for parent company NBCUniversal.

NBC Universal will close the sites, which have struggled to generate adequate traffic or revenue, on April 4, a spokesperson said. Staff were informed of the closings in a staff meeting on Thursday morning, according to Re/Code.

NBC purchased Television Without Pity, often called TWop, in 2007 after the site became popular for its granular coverage of TV shows including episode recaps, which have become a common piece of online entertainment coverage.
