Venezuela Tries to Prosecute Main Opposition, But She Fights On

The head of Venezuela's Congress, Diosdado Cabello, said that main opposition leader Maria Machado is no longer a member of the legislature. This would strip Machado of parliamentary immunity and open up the possibility of a criminal prosecution against her.

Cabello, who is also President Nicolas Maduro's right-hand man, claimed that Machado lost her seat when she accepted Panama's invitation to address the Organization of American States last week, according to multiple news reports.
