More 'Cosmos' Eye Candy: Photos From Episode 3

22

Cosmos finished its third episode Sunday night, and host Neil deGrasse Tyson showed viewers how a better understanding of gravity, comets and the solar system helped humans learn more about the stars — and about science itself.

Viewers also discovered that astronomer Edmond Halley did not actually discover his namesake comet, and that our Milky Way galaxy will run into the neighboring Andromeda galaxy in about 4 billion years. Don't worry, though — the spaces between all the stars and planets are so great, that there shouldn't be any actual collisions.
