Google Doodle Celebrates Abstract Painter Agnes Martin

Google took users on a trip into high-art territory on Saturday by posting a minimalist Google Doodle to honor the memory of famed abstract painter Agnes Martin

Born on March 22, 1912 in Canada, Martin moved to the United States in 1932 and became a citizen in 1940. She studied at Columbia University where she earned two master’s degrees.

Google's homepage shows an abstract version of its doodle, to celebrate the life of Agnes Martin.

Martin reportedly lived most of her life as a reclusive in New York and New Mexico while painting her famous grids of subdued natural tones.
