MakerBot Accepting Pre-Orders for Its Mini 3D Printer

Thanks to 3D printers, the dream of creating your own gadgets and replacement parts in the home is now a reality, but most consumers still consider the printers too costly and the process overly complexMakerBot's first compact printer, the MakerBot Replicator Mini, may change their minds.

Unveiled at CES 2014, along with an industrial-sized printer and a new Replicator pro version, the pint-sized, Wi-Fi-enabled 3D printer costs $1,375 and is now available for pre-order. It's not cheap, but still more than $1,000 less than the company's new full-sized option. According to founder and CEO Bre Pettis, the Mini will "open up the whole world of 3D printing to everyone."
