FCC Plans to Overhaul the Rules to Rescue Net Neutrality

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is going to bat for an open Internet. The agency plans to rewrite the rules that govern how Internet traffic is delivered from service providers to customers to ensure that service providers can not favor certain websites over others

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler outlined the commission's proposed new rules in a statement released Wednesday. The agency will not appeal the court's decision; rather, the FCC is viewing the decision as "an invitation for the commission to act to preserve a free and open Internet," according to a senior FCC official who briefed reporters before the annoucement.
