Severe UK Storms Kill Two, Displace Thousands

Gale-force winds, heavy rains and significant flooding in the United Kingdom led to two deaths Friday.

A wave that crashed through the window of a cruise ship killed an 85-year-old man and injured many others, according to multiple reports. The man was airlifted to a hospital, along with another passenger, but later died. A female minicab driver, 49, also died when a building collapsed on her car.

Tidal surges and winds of up to 83 mph battered England's southern coast most of the week, and more than 65,000 households are without power in the UK. There are currently 16 total severe-flood warnings in the UK, according to the UK Environment Agency. Read more...
