No Bail for Man Who Allegedly Shot Texting Dad at Movie Theater

The 71-year-old former police officer accused of shooting and killing another man in a crowded Florida movie theater, allegedly because he was texting, has been remanded to custody.

Eyewitnesses said they saw the defendant, Curtis Reeves, shoot 43-year-old Chad Oulson after an altercation broke out about Oulson sending text messages during the previews before a screening of the movie Lone Survivor at a Pasco County theater Monday. Judge Lynn Tepper, of the Sixth Judicial Circuit court in Dade City, Fla., denied the defense's request for bail in a front of a crowded courtroom Tuesday afternoon. Read more...
