Puppies and Politics: New Site 'The Dodo' Looks Beyond the Cute

New site The Dodo has taken flight, something its namesake never quite accomplished.

The Dodo is an animal-centric site that will cover a wide variety of issues including fun pieces such as "Do Dogs Tilt Their Heads When Confused" to serious issues like "As 'Blackfish' Soars, Will SeaWorld Sink?"

The site was previously announced by Buzzfeed chairman Ken Lerer; and counts his daughter Izzie Lerer as co-founder and editor at large, with Salon's Kerry Lauerman as editor-in-chief.
