Untying Rivals' Shoelaces Just Cost an NBA Star $50,000
The NBA has fined J.R. Smith of the New York Knicks $50,000 for what may be the most ridiculous transgression in NBA history: repeatedly trying to untie opponents' shoelaces during games.
To reiterate, this is the NBA, not middle school
The NBA announced Smith's hefty fine on Wednesday, terming it as "recurring instances of unsportsmanlike conduct."
Smith is an ultra-talented player, but his years of bizarre antics have made him something of a laughingstock among many fans and drawn the ire of multiple coaches and general managers.
