The NBA has fined J.R. Smith of the New York Knicks $50,000 for what may be the most ridiculous transgression in NBA history: repeatedly trying to untie opponents' shoelaces during games.

The NBA announced Smith's hefty fine on Wednesday, terming it as "recurring instances of unsportsmanlike conduct."
