The act reminded viewers of former President John F. Kennedy's alleged affair involving superstar Marilyn Monroe. At one point in the performance, R. Kelly sings, "You're the Marilyn, I'm the president, and I'd love to hear you sing, girl." The musical sketch at the AMAs took place in the same week as the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination.
