Arcade Fire unleashed a lyric video for "Afterlife" that comes off like a romantic mini movie of sorts, ahead of releasing its Reflektor album next week

Lyrics fly onto the video as the story of a young couple, Orfeu and Euridice, unfolds behind the text: "Can we just work it out? If we scream and shout? Till we work it out."

After a haunting ceremony calling on the spirits of the afterlife and a chase through the woods, the couple is united, so it seems

"That song started with a Haitian percussion loop we recorded way back at the end of The Suburbs tour," said band member Will Butler on the BBC Radio 1, where the video premiered this week.
