The History of 'Weekend Update' Anchors on 'SNL'

When you tune in to the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on Sept. 28, "Weekend Update" will have a new face at its news desk: Cecily Strong.

The actress will co-anchor alongside Seth Meyers until February 2014 when he is slated to take over for Jimmy Fallon on NBC's Late Night

Stepping into the role of a "Weekend Update" anchor is no small honor, as the segment is SNL's longest-running sketch. Strong follows in the footsteps of some of comedy's biggest names, including Tina Fey, Norm MacDonald and Amy Poehler
