Nielsen to Factor Mobile Viewership Into TV Ratings

The shows you watch on your smartphones and tablets will soon count toward Nielsen television ratings.

For years, the ratings giant has tracked viewership through traditional TV sets, but starting in 2014, shows streamed on mobile devices will also count toward the figures.

Mobile apps that stream live TV must include special code to track the shows, and then send the data back to Nielsen, according to Variety
