San Francisco To Test Online Participatory Budgeting

San Francisco will be the first major city to allow citizens to directly vote on portions of budget via the web.While details are still coming together, San Francisco's districts will each be given $100,000 to vote directly on. Citizens will be get to choose how the money is spent from a list of options, similar to the way they already vote from a list of ballot propositions. For the first time, citizens will be able to vote via the web for budgetary items, and world experts will help San Francisco residents deliberate online.
