Rumor: Apple TV Update to Hit Next Week

No Apple TV upgrade was announced at the company's iPhone event on Tuesday, but it looks like the media-streaming device could get a fresher sooner than later.

According to an All Things D report, Apple TV will receive a system update on Sept. 18, the same day iOS 7 will launch.

Although we don't have many details about what to expect, the report included a new AirPlay feature that can play content a user has purchased from the iTunes store on others' TVs.

Rumors started to circulate in recent weeks about an upgrade when surfaced receipts indicated a "set top box with communication function" shipped from Apple's Chinese supplier.
