Photographer Recreates Iconic E.T. Image Without Photoshop

The iconic image of E.T. and Elliott flying across the moon let our imaginations run wild — but then, that's what movies are for.

Swiss photographer Philipp Schmidli took a similar picture earlier this year of a cyclist in front of an enormous full moon on the horizon, and comparisons to the famous Hollywood photo were simply inevitable. So, Schmidli decided to bring that picture to life

Schmidli recreated the scene using a ramp, a few bikes and even a E.T.-esque figure for the basket. Three bikers — Roger Grütter, Matthias von Rotz and Pascal Röthlin — were enlisted to play Elliott. Read more...
