Yahoo Redesigns Sites, Now With More Ads

Yahoo is "refreshing" several of its major properties on Tuesday, introducing new ad units, greater personalization and more elegant designs to Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Movies, Yahoo Music, Yahoo TV, Yahoo omg and Yahoo Games.

Users likely won't notice the subtle personalization features, but they may notice some of the design changes, captured in the GIF below, as well as the new ads.

The ad units, dubbed "Stream Ads" and "Billboard," respectively, were first announced in April. Stream Ads, which have thus far appeared solely on the Yahoo homepage and Yahoo News, mimic the format of the content surrounding it: In the case of Yahoo News, ads appear in the form of a thumbnail, linked headline and a few lines of text; a sponsored tag and yellow background are the only markers that the content is paid for (see image below).
