AllPaws Pairs Shelter Animals With New Owners

Finding someone you want to spend the rest of your life with is hard. The response: online dating. AllPaws aims to apply the same concept to finding a pet

Launched by the startup DCL Ventures, it promotes adoption and helps prospective owners simplify the pet selection process. It's designed to effectively match shelter animals with loving new owners.

Darrell Lerner, the founder of AllPaws, told Mashable that his experience co-founding SNAP Interactive, which ran the dating site AYI.com, helped him develop the concept.

"The market for searching pets is incredibly primitive," Lerner said. "I saw a clear path for launching an exceptional product." He realized that AllPaws was essentially the same site he'd been working on for years — it just replaced humans with animals. Read more...
