AOL CEO Apologizes for Firing Patch Exec in Front of Hundreds of Employees

AOL's CEO Tim Armstrong made the task of letting go of hundreds of employees even more unsavory last week when he very publicly fired one of them on the spot.

During a company conference call on Friday morning to announce "cost-cutting" measures to Patch, AOL's long suffering local news property, Armstrong abruptly fired Patch creative Abel Lenz for taking pictures of the meeting.

Now, Armstrong has apologized in a memo to AOL's staff for what he says was "an emotional response at the start of a difficult discussion dealing with many people's careers and livelihoods." Read more...
