Journalists Mourn Death of Helen Thomas

Helen-thomas

Helen Thomas, a pioneer for female journalists and the first woman to join the White House Correspondents' Association, died Saturday morning at the age of 92

Thomas was also the first female member and a former president of The Gridiron Club and Foundation, one of Washington D.C.'s oldest and most exclusive journalistic organizations, according to Politico. In an email sent to current members, Carl P. Leubsdorf, former Dallas Morning News Washington bureau chief, explained that her death was the result of longstanding illness

On Saturday, journalists paid tribute to Thomas on Twitter

Rest in peace Helen Thomas. We sparred. We laughed. I so admired her tenacity.
