Think of Comic-Con, the sprawling geekfest underway Thursday in San Diego, and what images come to mind? Legions of men, perhaps carrying a few more pounds of weight than their superhero costumes can comfortably handle?

Well, you can cast that well-worn stereotype aside. A quick tour of the show floor in 2013 reveals it to be packed with more than its fair share of women and families. And a new analysis of the Comic-Con conversation on social media shows that men are hardly the driving force they once were: women are creating most of the buzz.
