IAB: Mobile Ad Revenue Will Pass $9B Globally In 2013 After 83% Surge In 2012 Thanks To Smartphone Boom
While smartphone growth may be reaching saturation point in some developed markets, the services that people are using on the devices continue to expand, and that is having a direct impact on the growth of mobile advertising. Globally, the mobile ads market brought in revenues of $8.9 billion in 2012 -- a rise of nearly 83% on 2011's revenues of $5.3 billion, according to figures out today of the IAB and IHS. But while we have seen a push towards more interactive and media-rich, ad-tech fuelled innovations in the medium, search remains the biggest of all ad formats, accounting for over half of all revenues at 52.8%, or $4.7 billion.
