Gaming computer and peripheral maker Razer released a tool Tuesday that allows anyone to get the full surround sound experience from any pair of headphones

Using Razer Surround software, users can calibrate headphones to 7.1 virtual surround sound, depending on their own hearing.

"We found that previous tools that simulated 7.1 surround sound only worked for 30% of users," Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan told Mashable at E3 this year. "So we created a tool that allows users to calibrate their own listening experience."

Users can adjust Razer Surround via its calibration control panel. The panel runs through each of the audio channels, asking the user to place each channel around a circle, so they can differentiate them more easily. The whole setup time takes less than five minutes.
