Hearst, Dr. Oz to Launch Print Magazine Next Year

Dr-oz

Hearst, having found success in the TV-to-magazine model with Food Network Magazine (launched 2008) and HGTV Magazine (launched 2011), announced Monday its plans to launch a new print title with Dr. Mehmet Oz, the host of The Dr. Oz Show.

Hearst, which also publishes Elle and Esquire, will launch two issues of its title with Dr. Oz in the first half of next year. Should they perform well enough, the magazine could go into "regular frequency" — likely 10 issues per year — in the second half of 2014.

It appears that the magazine is targeting the same demographic as Dr. Oz's current fan base: women ages 25 to 54. According to an e-mailed press statement, the title will offer "fresh lifestyle content with an upbeat, optimistic attitude, touching on physical and emotional well-being, food, beauty, real-women’s stories, news, travel and finances." It will be "a positive celebration of life" that reflects "Dr. Oz's unique persona."
