Yahoo's Acquisition of Tumblr Officially Closes

Yahoo agreed to acquire Tumblr last month for $1.1 billion, nearly all of it in cash. On Thursday, Mayer announced — on Tumblr — that the deal has passed regulatory approval procedures and is now complete.

To commemorate the close, Yahoo has given its corporate Tumblr a bit of a facelift, and added separate Tumblrs for several of its divisions, including Flickr and Search, to share product updates with Tumblr's community.

Since the deal was announced, several high-profile Tumblr employees, including creative director Jacob Bijani and media evangelist Mark Coatney, have announced their plans to leave the company.
