Nvidia Drops Shield Price to $299

Nvidia dropped the price of its soon-to-launch handheld gaming system by $50, from $349 to $299, the company announced Wednesday evening on its blog.

The company heard from thousands of gamers who loved the Shield, but they said it would be a "home run" at $299, according to Nvidia's blog post.

The Nvidia Shield was this year, then called "Project Shield," and combines a full gaming controller with a 5-inch touch screen. It runs Android's Jelly Bean operating system that can download games from Google Play and Nvidia's own TegraZone, while also allowing players to stream games from their PC via Steam if they have a compatible Nvidia graphics card.
