This year's E3 was amazing: dozens of terrific-looking games for fans, press and industry to demo and watch. Yet one really stood above the pack, even if it was a simple tech demo.

Still, most demos don't let you dogfight in space through the power of virtual reality.

In EVR, you ride in a cockpit as a space fighter. The Oculus Rift headset fits over your head, eclipsing your field-of-view with a 110-degree screen, making the experience completely immersive. Look behind you — can you see the back of your seat? Can you look down and see pilot's legs? With headphones, you only hear the heavy breathing of a person alone in space.
