Apple Finally Reveals Redesigned Mac Pro Desktop Computer

Mac-pro-screenshot1

Apple announced a completely new Mac Pro at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco on Monday, and it's a completely new tube-like design packed with power for professional users.

The new Mac Pro model design is a major departure from the old, mesh-like metal tower design that has stuck around since the Power Mac G5 days. The processor, graphics and memory are all built around a "unified thermal core" and housed in a sleek, black can-like structure that is one-eighth the volume of the previous generation.

While presenting the "sneek peak" of the new Mac Pro onstage at the Moscone Center, Apple executive Phil Schiller called the Mac Pro "revolutionary" and "radical." Professional video editors and graphics pros will likely rejoice over this long-awaited update to the high-end Mac desktop line. The new features include an Intel Xeon processor that supports up to 12-core configurations, ECC memory with double the performance and Thunderbolt 2 with 20 Gbps speed. Thunderbolt 2 supports up to six devices per port and is backward compatible.
