Wavii Confirms Google Acquisition

One month after Yahoo made headlines by announcing its acquisition of Summly, a startup that uses algorithms and natural-language processing to serve short summaries of articles, Google has snatched up Wavii, a Seattle-based startup that also gathers and processes online data into summarized bits. The acquisition, which was reported by multiple outlets earlier this week, was confirmed by Wavii CEO Adrian Aoun in a note posted to the company's website Friday:

Business Insider first reported Google and Wavii were in acquisition talks on April 19. Both Apple and Google were bidding for the company, according to TechCrunch, which says that Google paid north of $30 million for the startup. Read more...
