Archos Launches Android Smartphone Line

Tablet maker Archos announced on Thursday a new line of unlocked Android smartphones — its first attempt at the wireless market.

The models — Archos 35 Carbon ($99.99), Archos 50 Platinum ($219.99) and Archos 53 Platinum ($249.99) — will first launch in Europe this May. No contracts are necessary.

The flagship device, the Archos 50 Platinum, comes with a 5.0 inch full black IPS display paired with a quad-core CPU at 1.2GHz and 8 mega-pixel camera. "End-users will have an experience similar to a Samsung Galaxy S3 for half the price," the company said in a press release.

Meanwhile, the 53 Platinum smartphone will include a 5.3-inch screen and the 35 Carbon will come in at 3.5 inches. Read more...
