Microsoft Cuts Prices of Cloud Services to Match Amazon

Microsoft said it is slashing the prices for its Windows Azure cloud service as part of an effort to better compete against Amazon's existing hosting and storage platform.

The company said it will now match Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) prices for some of its online data services by 21% to 33%.

Microsoft computers running Linux and Windows Server virtual machines (VMs) on Windows Azure are now officially available.
