Don’t Blame Windows 8 for All PC Sales Woes

I won’t deny it, things are bad in PC land right now. The IDC is reporting the biggest drop in PC shipments since the firm started tracking such things in 1994: a 13.9% decline year over year and much steeper slides for individual manufacturers. The first quarter of 2013 is a stinker for PCs. It’s the truth. What may not be, though, is everyone’s insistence on pinning this on Windows 8.

“At this point, unfortunately, it seems clear that the Windows 8 launch not only failed to provide a positive boost to the PC market, but appears to have slowed the market," said the IDC’s Bob O'Donnell in the scathing report. Read more...
